The grapes use in Black Ridge wines are from the Lodi Appellation. The grapes used for Black Ridge are from the Lodi Appellation, which became a viticultural area in 1986. Lodi produces wines providing the best quality value ratio in Californian. Some of America's most popular wines are made in Lodi, from Mondavi "Woodbridge" to Gallo "Turning Leaf" and Sebastiani "Vendange" as well as Glen Ellen, Sutter Home, Forest Glen, Beringer and Fetzer wines, among others.

Woodbridge Cellars is located in the Lodi Appellation, in the Woodbridge AVA. There are 38 Wineries located in the Lodi-Woodbridge wine region to include Borra, Baywood Cellars, and Ironstone Vineyards.
Lodi has come a long way since settlers planted the region’s first grapevines more than 150 years ago.
The wine appellation is one of the fastestgrowing in California, expanding from eight wineries in 1990 to nearly 60 today. Those winemakers have produced hundreds of labels that have garnered numerous awards at state and national competitions.
