About West Wines:
WEST Wines is a boutique California winery owned by the Akerlind
Bonde family, a Swedish family with a passion for growing and making
fine wine. When we met them we felt their passion
about winemaking and was honored to be selected to represent these
fantastic wines. Their creativity in crafting these wines
draws upon their other passions in music, art and science, which
they combine with their love for select varietals from Dry Creek
Valley to make the best possible wines.
Their Cabernet Sauvignon wine combines the best of traditional Bordeaux winemaking, low yield estate fruit, and the fantastic terror of the Dry Creek Valley.
The Chardonnay is
definitely crafted in the same manner as the great burgundies, and
combines the synergy of traditional wine making techniques with
New World modern methods. All grapes are carefully hand harvested
and meticulously sorted to ensure the highest quality.
The winery name is best described by the winery: "Why are our
wines called WEST Wines? Our vineyards where the grapes are sourced
are among the most western vineyards in Sonoma County; therefore
among the most western vineyards in the western hemisphere, hence
the name WEST for our wines."
Phyllis Zouzounis is
the current winemaker for West wines. Releases from January
2009 and forward will represent Phyllis's crafts. Phyllis is
also the winemaker for Raymond Burr and her winery Deux Amis.
The Current releases were crafted by Julia
Iantosca, famed winemaker from Lambert Bridge.
